Medical Product Categories We Assess

The UAE medical sector includes products with very different uses and regulatory requirements. Product Registration UAE supports manufacturers and distributors with enquiries involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices, disposables, home healthcare products, diagnostic products, surgical instruments and hygiene products.

These are broad industry categories, not a claim that we handle every item within them. A hospital machine, a home-use device and a disposable product may require different expertise and documentation. We review each product before confirming whether we can take on its registration work. Some specialised equipment and technologies may be outside our service scope.

Pharmaceuticals: The product type, formulation, intended use and existing approvals must be reviewed before an appropriate route can be discussed.

Medical devices and disposables: The intended medical purpose, design, risk-related information and available conformity evidence can affect the requirements. We assess individual products rather than offering blanket registration for all devices or equipment.

Home healthcare and diagnostic products: A product sold for home use is not automatically subject to a simpler route. Its claims, instructions and intended user matter. Diagnostic products likewise require assessment of their specific function.

Surgical instruments and hygiene products: The precise intended use matters. A hygiene product may follow a different pathway depending on its composition and claims; a surgical instrument should not be treated as equivalent to every other medical device.

Vitamins, herbal blends and similar supplements belong in a separate assessment. See our Health Supplements Registration Services page for that category.

Why Product Classification Matters

A product’s name or marketing category does not establish its official regulatory classification in the UAE. The relevant authority considers factors including presentation, composition, use and design.

Classification can determine whether the product needs marketing authorization, which application route applies and which documents or applicant arrangements may be required. Where the route is uncertain, it is more responsible to clarify classification before quoting a registration process, cost or timeline.

Product Registration UAE can review the information available and support the preparation of a classification request where appropriate. The official classification decision belongs to the authority.

Where Our Medical-Sector Support Applies

Once the product and route have been assessed, our consulting and coordination may cover product classification, registration of manufacturing sites, Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) requirements, product registration and laboratory-testing requirements.

The work is defined for each product. For example, manufacturer or MAH registration may need attention before a product application can proceed. Existing certificates may be useful supporting evidence, but no single CE, ISO or other certificate automatically replaces the applicable UAE authorization process.

Where testing is required, we can help coordinate the relevant requirements and documentation. We do not issue government approvals, operate an accredited laboratory or guarantee that an application will be accepted.

What Should You Prepare Before Contacting Us?

A useful initial assessment begins with the product itself. Tell us its name, intended use, main claims and whether it is intended for professional or home use. Include the manufacturer’s name and country, a catalogue or product images, available technical documents and any existing registrations or approvals.

If you already have a UAE distributor, applicant or MAH arrangement, tell us that as well. If an authority has previously classified the product or asked for changes, share that background in your enquiry.

You do not need to assemble a complete registration dossier before the first conversation. The purpose of the initial review is to identify the likely route, determine whether the product fits our scope and find the most important document gaps.

What Happens After the Initial Assessment?

If the product falls within our service scope, we can discuss the applicable support and the information needed to begin. The precise steps depend on its classification, the manufacturer’s status, the UAE applicant arrangement and the condition of the existing documentation.

For a fuller explanation of registration support, documentation and authority follow-up, visit our Medical Product Registration Services page.

If the product falls outside our scope, we should say so rather than suggest that every medical product follows the same process.
